It’s been another busy week in the world of Digital and Technology, with the past week bringing us news of Snapchats latest redesign, Mental Health Awareness Week, YouTube’s new streaming service, an audio illusion and much much more.
SNAPCHAT’S GETTING ANOTHER REDESIGN
Snapchat have reported that their User Interface redesign earlier this year didn’t help them make any money, so they have announced another redesign, changing the User Interface to look more like the original layout.
APPLE’S FLEET OF SELF-DRIVING CARS
Apple now has 55 self-driving cars registered with the California Department of Motor Vehicles, compared to 27 earlier this year and just three last year. That means Apple has the second largest fleet of self-driving cars in California.
MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK
A report has found that students are four times more likely to seek mental health advice from their smartphone and through social media than from a counsellor.
In honour of #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, RedCat’s latest blog is all about the benefits of having pets at work. Did you know playing with a dog increases your levels of the stress-reducing hormone oxytocin and decreases the production of cortisol?

FACEBOOK AND THE EU
Facebook has confirmed its chief executive will meet leading members of the European Parliament to discuss privacy concerns in Brussels. The talks will be held behind closed doors at a meeting attended by leaders of various political groups.
YANNY OR LAUREL?
The question on everyone’s lips…. Is the Audio Illusion saying Laurel or Yanny? Apparently, it’s a lot more simple than people believe. Each sound has a similar timing and energy content. It is thought the reason why different people hear a different sound can be explained by frequency.
YouTube has revealed its plan for music streaming and it comes in the form of YouTube Music. The streaming app will be for those looking for music, not just to listen to but also watch, making use of YouTube’s extensive music video collection.
GOOGLE’S BEING INVESTIGATED
Google is being investigated in Australia over claims made by Oracle that it collects data from millions of Android smartphones users, who unwittingly pay their telecom service providers for gigabytes consumed during the harvesting.
Levi and Google
Google is adding more functionality to its smart clothing Denim Jacket, including support for ride-sharing alerts, Bose’s “Aware Mode,” and location saving.
OCADO GOES STATESIDE
Shares in online grocer Ocado have surged by 44% after it struck a deal with US retail giant Kroger. Ocado’s technology will be used in the US exclusively by Kroger, which is one of the world’s biggest grocery chains with annual sales of $122bn (£90bn).
