Digital Publishing Editor wanted for a leading Digital Publisher located in Manchester to play a crucial part in their growth within their central hub. You will be responsible for providing peak-time live updates and covering breaking news for their local regions.

With your journalistic background and experience working in a busy newsroom, you will be responsible for monitoring social media feeds and ensuring that the local stories are covered quickly and accurately. You will also be tasked with providing support to process content and running live updates throughout your shift of 4pm – midnight. An exciting opportunity for an eager and experienced digital publishing editor, with a keen eye for top stories.

Essential skills

  • Strong journalistic background and ability to keep up with the fast pace of a newsroom environment
  • An eye for spotting a good story and understanding what the audience within the region likes to see
  • Writing copy and responding quickly to tip-off feeds
  • A passion for being within a newsroom and being the first to cover the local news

About the role

Working in a busy, fast-paced newsroom, you will be expected to deliver a high standard across their online platform. Your responsibilities will vary from writing live news content across their regional live sites, as well as monitoring traffic and travel feeds to ensure you are the first one on a local story. You will also be providing desk-based support within the newsroom to maximise the audience during the evening period of your shift. This is an office-based role, working the 4pm – midnight shift.
