Infrastructure engineer needed for a fintech incubator backed by a major, household name bank.
About the role
This role is working on a lending and borrowing platform, built with the aim of supporting SMEs and start-ups across the UK. They sit within an innovation/ventures hub, and they’re the biggest venture of them all. Their main aim here is to build a system where you can apply for a loan, make a cup of coffee, and know whether you’re successful or not by the time you come back.
There’s plenty of work to be done here, mainly focused around building a solid, core platform. You’ll be able to work across the infrastructure, architecture, all with the aim of allowing the team’s work to hit production as quickly and as often as necessary; you’ll be involved with the whole team, teaching them about DevOps best practice, and helping them understand how best to build a scalable, highly performant platform.
What skills do you need?
They’re mainly looking for people with a good knowledge of Azure; this is the stack they’re based around, and it’s relatively key – however if you had great experience with AWS or GCP, and the rest felt like a good fit, I wouldn’t rule it out. Another important piece for them would be experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (they’re currently using Terraform). Most importantly is understanding how to build a robust, scalable platform.
