As Lead software engineer, you’ll be leading one of London’s best engineering teams, working across some of publishing’s most historic, iconic and well-known brands.

About the role

This company is cool. Genuinely cool. This is a publishing house that owns some of the most iconic and well-known brands internationally; thought leaders across tech, fashion and media have all been involved in the historic rise of this company.

This is a great position to be involved in the leadership team, managing a team of around 8 engineers. The company is in the midst of a rebuild of their platform into React, Redux and Node, as well as investigating tech such as Kubernetes, GraphQL and Next.js as well – this work will be reaching around 1billion visits per month globally.

You’ll have great influence across the direction of the company’s tech, how the you standardise best practices across teams and progress the scale of the platforms.

What skills do you need?

This role is a roughly 50/50 split between hands-on and hands-off engineering. In terms of hands-on, ideally having experience in building out scalable, global platforms across full-stack JavaScript, as well as an understanding of cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelining, as well as architecture. As well as this, strong leadership and management abilities, having previously looked after a team – leading from the front.

It’s a huge plus to have worked with remote teams – also worth noting in that respect than any additional language skills would be looked upon positively.
