About the role:
Social Media Team Lead required for a leading travel company based in central London (hybrid working – 2 days in the office 3 days from home).
As Social Media Team Lead you will be leading a team of 5 and will be responsible for setting the social media strategy for the business. Experience in video first social is also key to this role as you will be supporting the videographer with both pre & post production. At heart I need this person to be a social media champion – someone that lives and breathes social and is across all the emerging trends and channels and can manage a team and drive the social video first strategy forward
The role will also have the following responsibilities:
- Strategy creation and execution. Ensuing that each brand is creating content in
accordance with the overarching social strategy and is on track to reach objectives
and achieve KPIs.
- Innovation and creative content ideation. Supporting the social team, you will be
responsible for leading the development and directing the implementation of a wide
range of content forms, including video, text, still imagery, animation, live action and
other content forms that best utilise the technology available on any given social
media/digital platform.
- Mining for and leveraging social listening insights and other research inputs to
optimise the brand social strategy across channels and to influence future social
content and messaging strategies.
- Social content calendar management. Whilst our social media managers are
responsible for their monthly calendars, it will be your responsibility to ensure these
are filled out well in advance, planned content is in accordance with business, brand
and social trend needs, and content is being published on time.
- Pre production, on shoot and post production management. This will involve
organising video shoots, writing scripts, directing talent and crew and producing on
location, and working with video editors to achieve high quality social content.
- Brand guideline and TOV guardianship across the 4 brands, ensuring all content
feels unique to each brand and speaks to each brands unique community of past and
prospect guests.
- Be a leadership figure for social for our teams around the world, ensuring best
practice sharing and demonstrable results, you’ll be working with international
teams and coordinating activity across 8 markets. As part of this, you will be
Providing company-wide thought leadership on ways to reach and gain the attention
of target audiences.
- Running weekly social team meetings, weekly team 1:1s, in-putting into monthly
editorial team meetings, and reporting to senior stakeholders.
What skills you need:
The successful candidate will have the following skills & experience:
- 7+ years in a social media role for a social first brand or social agency
- Talks fluent social and is passionate about the opportunities a powerful social media
strategy can create for a brand. Particularly well versed in all things TikTok, YouTube
and Instagram, and also excited by new and emerging social platforms.
- Has an experimental and bold mindset when it comes to social strategy – isn’t afraid
to try new things, trail new social platforms and content formats.
- Comfortable and experienced in reacting to new social trends, channel, algorithm
and format developments.
- Extensive on location video production experience – comfortable working on both
small and large scale shoots providing clear direction and vision.
- Extensive experience briefing and providing feedback to video editors / social team
members. Knows what makes good, shareable social content and is able to provide
positive and constructive feedback to achieve the results they want.
- Can work with a cool head under tight timelines and can juggle multiple projects /
priorities at the same time whilst delivering the best results.
- Highly organised and highly versed in creating and publishing social content to a
content calendar, understanding how to balance social trends, brand and business
needs.
- Highly analytical – understands how to interpret and translate trends and
performance into content excellence, and is confident in providing analytical
reporting, thought leadership and social best practice to both team members, as
well as senior stakeholders and department leads.
- Proven experience in working collaboratively with other marketing functions
including editorial, campaigns, partnerships, email and web to ensure that social
media / social content is a part of the wider brand story.
- Extensive experience in team management – understands how best to support,
educate and empower team members.
- Proficient in using tools such as Canva, Google Analytics and Sprout.
- Amazing problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot quickly.
- A passion for travel, storytelling and the social media space.
